Along with I’m sure others on planettrilug, I’ve been working on losing some of my heft.
I’ve gone back and forth on caring for a long time, but now have some incentives beyond just “it’s good for me”.
My first month in Singapore I dropped ~11 pounds. The 4 weeks after that were only an additional 2.5, but now that I’m back, I somewhat expect the dropping to continue apace. It’s hard to eat a lot when it’s hot and sticky, and having an environment that encourages walking, at least to some extent, makes the process a bit easier.
Diabetes does exist on both sides of my family, though it’s all been late-onset, Type-II – so while I’m paying attention, I’m not going crazy in the process.
When I left, my official weight from my physical was 254. I picked-up a scale today so I can track relative loss over the coming weeks and months. I won’t scare the world by posting photos of myself during the process, but I will endeavor to post ~weekly updates with how much (if any) has been lost, and hopefully that will help to keep me honest.
My initial goal is 210 – which is about 45 pounds away. If I could keep-up the rate I started when I first got here, I’ll hit that in 4 months. My lovely fiancee is also assisting by helping me plan grocery trips and meals to some extent (thanks, honey!)
Hopefully there will be a pleasant stream of more to come on this.
